Fertility & Bone broth

As I decided to launch a blog & podcast I decided I would open up all of me to you. This was a difficult choice because sometimes it is easier to just share the highlight reel of my life. Something I have never spoke about publicly is my journey through trying to naturally conceive a child. I have decided to share this side since it is a huge part of me and deeply impacts how I live. Fertility is so intimate but something that has shaped how I eat, live and press in to know Jesus more. This weeks episode on ‘the balanced girl’ was a breath of fresh air to speak with Catherine Farrant, the owner of Ossa Organic. Her energy exudes passion and perseverance when it comes to becoming her best self. Catherine gives me the low down on her obsession with bone broth, home birth, Chinese Confinement and what she does to remove the toxic load from her every day life. As my journey has been focused on my road to fertility, Catherine’s has been the after birth experience.

Something I have never spoke about publicly is my journey through trying to naturally conceive a child.

This episode is one that truly hits home with me on such a personal level. About 6 months ago I decided it was time to go public with my fertility journey. I smirk as I call it a fertility journey and not infertility journey because I believe words are sooooo powerful. I scheduled this podcast with Catherine several months ago for this week. At that moment I was feeling excited, hopeful and quite confident that I would be sharing the news ‘I am pregnant’ at any moment but that is not exactly what evolved. Last Friday I got a call from my doctor that I am going to need surgery due to a serious, stubborn, persistent cyst that needs removing. Unfortunately, this is not my first rodeo as I have had this surgery twice before. When I heard the news I felt afraid, mainly because of what other doctors have spoken to me about what this surgery means. This time however the doctor told me to look at a third surgery different. He told me a story of a woman who tried to conceive for years and couldn’t, in fact she had this surgery twice before and on the third time is when she had not one, not two, but three babies.

I suddenly felt ready and said yes to the surgery for the third time. See what is important for any journey wherever you are is to be around people that will speak life in to you. I believe our bodies respond to how we treat them, feed them, tell them and so forth. What a shift to work with someone who could move me in to my fertility instead of away from it. I believe most woman have dealt with pre or post birth complications and I loved talking to someone so passionate about this topic. I believe we can all slow down and learn natural things to do and eat to heal our bodies for the best experience pre and post birth can be.

See what is important for any journey wherever you are is to be around people that will speak life in to you.

In this weeks podcast my guest, Catherine shares how she had two c-sections and horrible postpartum after her first and second birth. After so much learning, she began to connect eating and so much more to the hard times of post pregnancy. She shares so many things she learned along the way so women can feel hope and experience healing. She just had her third child, naturally at home and is living her best life. One of my favourite things that Catherine does so well is share her knowledge about bone broth. She shares how to use bone broth from cold to hot; and fresh to frozen. Catherine set up her own company Ossa Organic after discovering the incredible benefits of bone broth while she was pregnant with her first child. It made such a difference in her life and health and wanted to share it with the world. Check out her story on ‘the balanced girl’

Now for some fun… one of my favourite recipes that Catherine shares are how she uses bone broth so I decided to have some fun with one of her recipes and turn it in to a fat burning coffee, hmmm maybe our next It Works coffee.
