She began skipping school practices and engaging in excessive drinking. Thank you so much, Elizabeth, for being a guest on the balance girl, I loved listening to your truth and how you want to share with every parent out there that they have choices when their children are going through depression, anxiety, behavioral things in their life and just giving them more information than what they’re getting today. So just appreciate you sharing your truth and hope you all enjoyed this special episode of The Balance Girl. And make sure if you are not already subscribe to the Beyonce girls, you do not miss one episode.

-Key Points-

  • Mental health was not something that was looked after when I was a child

  • I was kidnapped in the middle of the night

  • I will tell you what ‘Woods’ are

  • I lived a double life there, being myself and that persona that the counsellors thought you were

  • We listened to music there so it is so triggering for me to this day

  • It took me 7 years to write the book – I wanted to write it for people who lose their life

  • Everyone is different

  • It ok not to be ok, our imperfections make us very unique

  • I am grateful parents contact me about their kids going to a similar institution – looks like there is no other option, interesting to see it from parent’s perspective

  • Living day by day
